Clinical Learning/Training
Health Care for the Homeless is committed to the development of future health professionals. Individuals placed here get an in-depth look at how community health centers function and learn about future health care careers. Applicants can be placed in various departments, including in clinics, community outreach, or program development, depending on their experience and interests.
Clinical learners regularly collaborate with our care providers as part of their professional training.
- Graduate social work students fine-tune their personal approach and clinical skills as they assess walk-in clients and, eventually, carry their own caseloads and provide therapy sessions to clients.
- Medical and nursing students learn about caring for individuals with very limited resources and deeply challenging life situations.

Clinical Placements
Please note: clinical learning placements are very limited, and therefore, very competitive. Applicants who follow the instructions listed below have the highest chance of being approved for a placement at Health Care for the Homeless.
Prior to beginning an internship or placement for credit or as part of a clinical training program, your school/institution is required to have an Affiliation Agreement with Health Care for the Homeless. The following schools have active agreements on file:
