On Monday, July 15, the Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services hosted a press conference to highlight the success of the Assistance in Community Integration Services (ACIS) program - and to celebrate the program's inclusion in the FY25 state budget. President & CEO Kevin Lindamood was in attendance along with other city and state leaders, including hospital partners who were crucial to funding the local match required during the pilot period.

Meet our new Director of Practice Operations Cecelia Lane! A DMV native with 18 years of experience in health care operations, Cecelia is coming to us after several years in leadership positions on the West coast, as well as her work as a community health consultant. In her new position, Cecelia will oversee registration, benefits enrollment and referrals, improving access to care throughout the agency. Learn more about her plans (and her two Yorkshire terriers!) below.

On January 1, 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation declared freedom for enslaved individuals in the Confederacy, but those in Galveston, Texas were not made aware until June 19, 1865. This day, also known as Freedom Day, Independence Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, and Emancipation Day, commemorates emancipation and Black liberation. We are thrilled to welcome back Tosha Hershey as our Chief People and Culture Officer (a reframing of the Chief Strategy Officer position) on July 1. Tosha was our Director of HR from 2016-2019 and brings a strong connection to mission, expertise in HR and executive leadership to the role. Since Health Care for the Homeless she has taken on c-suite positions at organizations in the DMV area, including Ashley Addiction Treatment and Unity Healthcare. We are thrilled to welcome Fatou Toure as our new Chief Financial Officer. Holding an MBA in Finance from Howard University, Fatou brings extensive nonprofit and health care finance experience from places like Howard University Hospital, Mary’s Center (an FQHC) and, most recently, a four year stint as CFO of Bread for the City in Washington, D.C., which also operates an FQHC focusing on people experiencing homelessness. She sits on two DC nonprofit boards and is a member of the Maryland Association of CPA and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. We have no doubt that Fatou will hit the ground running at Health Care for the Homeless. Get to know her more in the Q&A below.

Meet our first Director of Revenue Cycle, Meghal Shah! Meghal brings extensive experience, expertise and leadership in health care revenue cycle management, including the last 14 years at NextGen Healthcare.
