Jeff Singer, MSW President & CEO |
Jeff Singer is a local and national leader on homelessness and health. In 1987, Singer joined Health Care for the Homeless as the agency’s first social worker. In 1990, he was named Director of Community Relations and was appointed President & CEO in 1998. Singer has worked as a community organizer, clinical social worker, and policy advocate since 1969. Following graduate studies at the Johns Hopkins University, he worked at the Baltimore City Department of Social Services in family and adult services, helping to establish homeless and HIV services in the early 1980’s. He subsequently received a second Masters Degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. In 1988, Singer served on the Governor’s Advisory Board on Homelessness and since has advised many state and local administrations. Singer is a past staffer for the National Health Care for the Homeless Council and served two terms as President of the National Council. Singer has been recognized extensively for his advocacy and outreach work. In 2010, he received a Health Care Heroes award for Community Outreach by The Daily Record and was named Social Worker of the Year by the Maryland Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
