We say it all the time – everyone deserves to go home. Ensuring that people have access to affordable housing in good neighborhoods is a huge part of the work we do here at Health Care for the Homeless.
So this year we’re pushing hard for the Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) Act, which would prohibit landlords from discriminating against prospective tenants based on their legal source of income. If passed, the bill would give people with public subsidies—who are low-income and often have disabilities—greater opportunity to live near family, friends and other support networks, and the resources they need to thrive.
