Donate a Vehicle
Live in the Greater Baltimore area and need to get rid of a used car, van, truck, boat with a trailer, or recreational vehicle?  Donating your vehicle is easy and convenient!
Get started now!  We can use proceeds from the sale of your vehicle to help end homelessness.

Prefer to speak to a person? Call us between Monday and Friday 8:30am – 5pm at 410-837-5533 to speak to a member of our Development Team.  Please be ready with a few pieces of information: the year, make and model of your vehicle, the general condition, the vehicle identification number, and title and lien information.
Vehicle donations made to a charitable not-for-profit organization are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. The best practice is to consult with a tax professional on how to maximize your tax deduction since every car donation and tax situation is unique. In general, the IRS limits the tax deduction to the gross proceeds from the sale of the car, truck, or other vehicle. Charitable contributions must be itemized on Schedule A of Form 1040 to qualify. If the total deduction claimed on the tax return exceeds $500, Form 8283 "Non-cash Charitable Contributions" must also be completed and attached on your return.
To learn more about donor responsibilities prior to making a car donation, please consult the Donors Guide to Vehicle Donations found in IRS Publication 4303. The file may be read with Adobe Reader.

Free Pickup and Other Benefits

*Vehicle value must be greater than towing fees for Health Care for the Homeless to accept a vehicle donation.

Donate Stock
Even in these tough times, many individuals still enjoy significant gains in their stock and other investment portfolios. If you own stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have appreciated in value, you have a unique opportunity to realize extra tax savings by making an outright gift.
With your outright gift of stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, you can earn a federal income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the securities as long as you have owned them for longer than one year. By donating stock directly to the Heath Care for the Homeless, most donors can completely avoid all capital gains tax and would realize larger net tax savings.  Of course, each personal financial situation is unique, so we advise you to discuss your plans with your family and your financial and legal advisers before making any charitable gift.

Sponsor The Chocolate Affair!

Become part of “the sweetest night in town!”  The Chocolate Affair is the signature fund raising event for Health Care for the Homeless.

Last year, over 1,500 attendees of The Chocolate Affair enjoyed the sweet and savory cuisine of more than 50 of Baltimore's best restaurants, caterers, and chocolatiers.  With the financial support provided by our individual, corporate, and media sponsors, we raised more than $165,000 to help end homelessness

Learn more about The Chocolate Affair and the benefits of sponsorship at our special event website www.chocolateaffair.org.

Donate an Item

Lightly used medical equipment, new socks, and personal hygiene supplies – these are just some examples of items that Health Care for the Homeless has been able to provide our clients thanks to the generosity of our donors.

Due to the large number of donors who support us and the limited space in which we work, we ask that you phone or email us before bringing your items to our building.  If we cannot accept your donation for any reason, we may be able to refer you to an organization that could.  If you have items you think our clients may need, please call or email our Development Team at 410-837-5533 or info@hchmd.org
