On April 20, 30 volunteers from Constellation Energy transformed our garage into a market full of free goodies for our clients. Before the market opened officially, our CEO Kevin Lindamood welcomed volunteers for the day of service. After completing set-up in the garage, a select group of clients led volunteers in a story-sharing activity and small group discussions over lunch.
Once the market opened, clients were able to fill bags with new underclothes, hygiene packets, gently used clothing, water and healthy snacks, thanks to Constellation's generosity. A wrap-up activity encouraged volunteers to think on what they had learned about the experience of homelessness and how they would use that insight.
Staff and volunteers alike commented on the impactfulness of the day's activities. We look forward to continuing to work with volunteers in meaningful ways to serve our community.
