"Arab countries" are typically defined as those whose citizens primarily speak Arabic. Additionally, all Arab countries are members of the Arab League, which is an intergovernmental alliance that was created to unify the Arab nations politically and represent the interests of the people of the Arab nations. Each is located in one of two general global regions: Middle East (Asia's Arabian Peninsula) and North Africa. Collectively, these regions are commonly referred to as the Arab world, Arab nations, Arab states, Greater Middle East, or the Arab homeland.
