Thank you for rocking your socks!

11.06.18

A crowd of 400+ runners and volunteers ran, walked, shimmied and skipped around Lake Montebello for the fifth annual Rock Your Socks 5K on Saturday, November 3.

Together, you helped raise $58,000+, enough to give 465 children without homes the care they need to control asthma, treat pneumonia, soothe sore throats, get vaccinations for school and so much more.  As Kevin Lindamood said at the 5K, "The work you help us do each and every day helps bring our most vulnerable neighbors home."

If you missed out on this year's run, the Rock Your Socks 5K will be back on November 2, 2019! (RSVP here, and we'll let you know as soon as registration opens.)

“I loved everything about it”

A record-breaking 100 clients made it to Lake Montebello to run, walk, volunteer and cheer their hearts out. Borden Transportation generously provided transportation to make sure clients got to and from the race safely. And thanks to Charm City Run, clients each got a pair of brand new sneakers.

“It was great being a part of this,” said Paul, a Health Care for the Homeless client. “I loved everything about it!”

The tradition continues

The music was loud, the socks were louder. You can experience it all by visiting the photo gallery

They are the champions

While everyone at the event is a winner in our book, there were a select few who beat out the competition as fastest runners, stylish dressers and expert fundraisers.

Highest fundraising individual: Carolyn Henrich (Over $2,000 raised!)

Highest fundraising team: The Justice League (Captain: Amber Richert, Nurse Practitioner at our Fallsway clinic!)

Fastest runners by category:

  • Punk rocker (female): Eden Trionfo
  • Progressive rocker (female): Megan McClowry
  • Progressive rocker (male): Tyler Gray, Medical Director at our West Baltimore clinic!
  • Classic rocker (female): Maureen Hall
  • Classic rocker (male): Garfield Thompson

The community that made this possible

An incredible group of 97 volunteers (including 34 client volunteers) set up the race village, directed traffic, passed out donuts and cheered on the runners and walkers.

A hearty thanks to all the vendors who made the race village such a lively gathering place: Brick Bodies, Cortiva Institute, Smoothie King, Under Armour Performance Center, and YogaWorks. And of course, thanks to Nelly's Echo for providing the live music that kept us rocking around the lake all morning.

Our race sponsors are the reason that every dollar you raised goes directly to getting children without homes the care they need:

Thanks again to everyone for another fantastic Rock Your Socks 5K!
