Icky, yucky flu!

09.22.16

Yucky, icky flu.

Just how yucky and icky, you ask? Consider this:

  • Influenza (the flu) is the 8th leading cause of death in the United States. An estimated 27,000 people die from it every year.
  • The flu is responsible for an estimated 111 million missed work days every year.
  • On average, it takes 40 people getting a flu shot to prevent one person from getting sick with the flu. If everyone at Health Care for the Homeless were to get the vaccine, we would help prevent at least six of our coworkers from getting sick!

Stay out of the hospital, save your PTO for a much-needed vacation and do your part to protect yourself, your loved ones, our colleagues and our clients—some of which are at much higher risk of severe complications from the flu than others. Get a flu shot at one of the upcoming Health Care for the Homeless flu clinics. Clinics are scheduled for the following dates at 421 Fallsway in the medical department (unless otherwise noted):

  • Thursday, Sept. 22: 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 23: 3-4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 28: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 29 (1st Floor Group Room): 3-4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 5: 12-1 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 7: 12-1 p.m.
