2024 Core Value Awards

12.10.24

At our annual staff holiday party, we take time to honor and celebrate staff members who best represent our Core Values and one HCH-er at Heart.

In July of this year, our community lost Delvonia "Von" Bradshaw, Executive Assistant and a 30-year employee who embodied the core values of Health Care for the Homeless.

Von's sisters attended this year's holiday party to accept the "HCH-er at Heart" award on her behalf, and afterwards, President & CEO Kevin Lindamood proudly announced the award has been renamed in her honor, presenting the first annual Von Bradshaw Award

Von Bradshaw Award
John Lane, Outreach Services Manager

"Receiving this award in Von Bradshaw’s name is a deeply personal honor. Von was a close friend and an extraordinary colleague whose dedication, compassion, and commitment to this agency will always inspire me."

Dignity: Molly Greenberg, RN, Harm Reduction Manager

“Dear HCH family, thank you so much for this honor. I have a quote on my office wall that reads, ‘Shame dies when stories are told in safe spaces’ and I feel lucky to work alongside you in creating these spaces for our clients every day. The work that we do is meaningful, important, beautiful, and heartbreaking.

There is a heaviness to feeling limited in what we can do to support our clients in a system that is set up to fail them. While I wish for a better and more just world, I remember that if we can do nothing else, we can show up for people wholeheartedly and unconditionally—we can let people know that we see them, we hear them, and that they cannot be defined by diagnosis or behavior or where they call home. When we listen to their stories we are saying ‘your life matters,’ and in the best moments, we get to see them believe it, too.”

Authenticity: Adrienne Burgess-Bromley, Case Management Coordinator
“Thank you for this award of authenticity. It means a lot to be recognized for being me as I’m never perfect, but genuine.
Embracing one’s own unique qualities and being content with ourselves, cultivates genuine respect from those around us.”

Hope: Johanna Galat, LCSW-C, Behavioral Health Therapist
“Thank you so much for this award! It brings me hope to see everyone who makes HCH work come together every day to treat the people our society neglects and oppresses with care and attention. I know that clients feel hopeless sometimes, and I think that’s when they really need us to hold it as true that things will not always be the way they are now, and that we are going to try and make this a better world for them.”

Justice: Janaya Brown, LMSW, Therapist Case Manager
"Funny enough, my favorite t-shirt to wear in the office quotes James Baldwin, saying, ‘Ignorance allied with power is the most ferocious enemy justice can have.’ Learning never stops and your power can be used to uplift those in need.”

Passion: Liz Galbrecht, CRNP, Nurse Practitioner
“Wow! I am extremely honored to be recognized. It's easy to be passionate about what you do when you work with such great people. The joy and meaning from daily interactions with clients and staff inspire me to continually grow as a person and medical provider.”

Balance: Tara Dorsey, Compliance and Quality Specialist
“Thank you, everyone, for this incredible award. I’m truly shocked because, honestly, my life balance often feels like it’s teetering all over the place!

There’s a quote by Jana Kingsford that has always stuck with me: ‘Balance is not something you find; it’s something you create.’ That resonates deeply because so many of us are constantly searching for the elusive idea of balance in our lives. For me, it’s about creating balance based on the needs at hand.

Receiving this award is truly humbling—it reassures me that I must be doing a pretty good job of creating that balance. Thank you again for this recognition; I truly appreciate it.”
