A coat can make all the difference

02.24.16

Magic 95.9 FM host April Watts arrived at Health Care for the Homeless during a recent lunch hour with two trucks—one ferrying her crew and the other full of coats: 250 coats for our clients…Plus all kinds of hats, scarves and adult and child footwear and clothing. Thank you, Radio One, for your generosity. And thank you, April Watts, for broadcasting the coat delivery live and bringing to your listener community’s attention the daily challenges and needs of our neighbors without homes.

Very big thanks also to you, Sherry Golden and Kat Acosta, both Health Care for the Homeless staff members, for going on the air and letting folks know about the amazing work you and your colleagues do each and every day.

There are many ways to engage with and support our work to prevent and end homelessness. Donations are an important one. One coat this time of year can mean survival for one man, woman or child.

Here’s what our clients need right now, and will need in coming weeks:

  • Men’s coats
  • Women’s coats
  • Men’s boots and shoes
  • Women’s boots and shoes
  • Hygiene kits

How best to get these items into our clients’ hands? Before bringing them our way, please email donations@hchmd.org or call 443-703-1345 to schedule a drop-off and verify need.
