A glimpse into our upcoming client art show

04.26.17

Our Work: Client Art Exhibition 2017 is a testament to the important role art plays in our lives, as well as the lives of those around us. Each year, we welcome community members to view client art and meet the artists behind the work. As we prepare for this year's art show on Thursday, May 4, here’s a sneak peek at our client artists and what they’re working on…

Kelvin is a local artist with a gift for painting. He often focuses on well-known icons and Baltimore-themed cityscapes and social life. And while each art piece is more exceptional than the next, he likes to remind us that sometimes it’s the simple, everyday things in life that mean the most.

“I pick random subjects that people will recognize and know – but I have some lesser known subjects – like the man down by the harbor – who I also think should be painted. My art is an art of no style – I don’t have a niche. I just want to depict life.”

Vincent has been in love with art since he was a little boy, picking it up here and there, in school and on his own. Over the years, art has created a sense of community for Vincent. In many ways, art group is like home, and the community of artists are like family.

“My mom used to take my brother and I to art exhibits, and going to the Walters for the first time, it blew my mind. I wanted to create beauty like that. I’ve always wanted that. To me, art is as important as air.”

Sylvia has been a member of the art group for close to three years now and is known for her colorful quilts and patchwork. In her work, she finds a reason to reminisce as well as and a gleam for the future.

“Sometimes when I see my art it reminds me of my family and my past and helps me to feel encouraged.”

Our Work: Client Art Exhibition 2017 is on Thursday, May 4, 5-7 p.m. The event is free and select pieces of art will be on sale for cash only. Refreshments will be provided.
