Q&A with Meghal Shah
Meet our first Director of Revenue Cycle, Meghal Shah! Meghal brings extensive experience, expertise and leadership in health care revenue cycle management, including the last 14 years at NextGen Healthcare. Meghal will oversee revenue cycle at Health Care for the Homeless and work to strengthen the Department. Give Meghal a warm welcome and get to know her in the Q&A below.
You’ve overseen revenue cycle, billing and practice management for health care institutions for the last 20 years, including in India and the United States. What drew you to this field?
In the face of complex and complicated revenue cycles, my passion to leverage technology, simplify the process and bring value to the health care organization that focuses on improving health and wellness was a major driver to step into this field.
Why Health Care for the Homeless in particular?
To be able to contribute and be part of such a great mission to end homelessness. I couldn't have wished for anything else.
Director of Revenue Cycle is a new position at the agency. What are the key priorities for strengthening billing and revenue systems across teams and ensuring that we are maximizing reimbursement for the care we provide?
I have a few key priorities:
- Streamline billing and revenue processes
- Increase clean claim rates
- Prevent denials/rejection
What are one or two ways you anticipate improving access to care through an anti-racist approach?
By promoting inclusive culture, respecting diversity and creating ways for staff to be heard.
What should staff (and others) know about your approach to the position?
Teamwork and collaboration will make us a dream team!! I will be available to help and support the team in every possible way.
What helps you find balance or joy outside of work?
Playing with my daughter who is 6 years old, photography, yoga, meditation, traveling to different places.
