BaltimoreLink to change bus routes June 18

05.03.17

On Sunday, June 18, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will officially kick off BaltimoreLink, a complete revamp of the city’s bus system. To help everyone get used to the new system, rides will be free from June 18-30 on the Local Bus, Express Bus, Light Rail and Metro Subway

MTA members spoke to client advocates about the new services. Here's an overview of some of those big changes to come:

  • BaltimoreLink will feature 12 color-coded, high-use routes known as CityLink routes. These main routes form a downtown grid, and radiate out from the city on major streets.
  • Bus frequency will increase. All CityLink routes will run 24 hours, 7 days a week and, on average, 10-15 minutes apart during peak times.
  • BaltimoreLink’s routes will connect to the Light Rail, Metro Subway and MARC trains.
  • LocalLink routes will connect neighborhoods. In addition to CityLink routes, 15 neighborhood routes will connect local spots in the city.
  • Express BusLink routes will connect suburban spots: These routes offer limited-stop service suburb-to-suburb suburb-to-downtown.
  • Commuter BusLink routes will connect people outside the city. See more on these routes here.
