Get out the vote at Health Care for the Homeless

09.10.24

Nothing about us, without us!

“We need more folks voting because this is a way of taking power back.
This impacts you and everyone around you—your family, friends, your community and the direction of the country itself.”

—Senior Client Relations Manager Malcolm Williams, LCSW-C

Barriers in our election system have made it so only 1 in 10 unhoused people vote! Health Care for the Homeless clients and community members deserve to be represented in our local, state, and national elections.

That's why this election year, our team is working hard to get out the vote. In October, staff and volunteers registered over 45 new voters at various clinic locations and community sites and provided free transportation to early voting sites.

Two volunteers smile behind a desk. Sign reads "Register to vote here"

On Election Day:

  • Not registered to vote? In Maryland, you can register at any Early Voting location or register at the polls on Election Day
  • Visit the Maryland Board of Elections' page to look up your voter registration status or find your polling location
  • Call or text the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-687-8683 if you or someone experiencing homelessness encounters issues with voting while at the polls
